Define Information Assets: Option 1: Manual Entry
Manual Information Asset Entry
Defining the Information Assets manually requires an interactive, Information Assets by Information Assets data entry process.
- Click the 'Create' button on the main Information Assets panel near the bottom right to bring up the Add Dialog
Information Asset Create Button
- Enter the ID, Name and Summary for the Information Asset
The ID should be a short identifier that can be used for referencing the Information Asset in other areas, while allowing the name to be changed without breaking those references.
Both the ID and name must be unique.
You may optionally classify the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability at this time, however this is covered in a separate step. However, if you have yet to define your organisation specific Risk Framework, you will need to do that first to avoid having these classifications being overwritten later.
If the Information Asset meets the definition of 'Cabinet-In-Confident', this may be checked, however this can only be set on Information Assets classified as PROTECTED or SECRET, which is dependent on classifying the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability first.
If any of the Handling Restrictions apply, check the applicable boxes.
Information Asset Creation Dialog
- When done, click the 'Create' button.
- Repeat steps 1-3 until all Information Assets have been defined. This can be revisited later if necessary.
